Battery Status

Battery charge status is a hot topic. It's also a very complicated one. Here we explain how we work out battery status in IOTee and how you should read them.

Battery Status

The Battery Status you see in IOTee is taken directly from the Voltage of the batteries on your cart, which is converted into %.

To be as accurate as possible, we read the battery only when the cart is stationary. When a cart is moving, the voltage tends to drop below an accurate level - so we try to only send battery status once it has levelled out.

The battery status will show in intervals of 10%. These percentages are based on an average 100% full charge of 50.8v, and an average 0% charge of 42v.

Cart Charging Status

The battery icon will change to Yellow when the cart is charging. We do this by detecting an increase in the battery voltage. Note that the Yellow charge status might sometimes take a while to show after plugging the cart in on charge.

The battery icon will return to Green when the battery voltage drops. This usually happens when a cart reaches a full charge - or when the cart is being driven.

The Yellow charge icon is an indication that the carts battery voltage has increased. It does not necessarily mean the cart is plugged in to the charger. If the Yellow charge icon does not change to Green when unplugged, drive the cart a short distance.

Battery Calibration

IOTee calibrate the devices before we install them, so your readings should be as accurate as possible. However, if you suspect your battery readings are not quite correct, please first inspect the batteries by performing a Voltage test, if the voltage isn't showing correctly in IOTee, we can remotely re-calibrate the battery readings. To do this, we will need a live voltage reading from that cart. It is best to contact us directly in this case.

Battery Issues

If your carts are not reaching a full charge or do not appear to be charging, please first check the charger unit and verify the cart is properly plugged in.

IOTee battery status is simply a display of the current voltage across the cart batteries. If you suspect you have battery issues, please contact your cart service representative.
